FINAL FANTASY XIV T-SHIRT DESIGN🌮🐱

I worked on a project for FINAL FANTASY XIV last year, and it’s finally out in the world! I created an illustration for one of their Fan Festival T-shirts, which will be available both as a physical item and as an outfit your character can wear in the game. How cool is that? 😃

Some background info: there’s a taco shop in the world of FINAL FANTASY XIV called “Aunt Tii’s Tacos,” and for this t-shirt the Square Enix team wanted to create something that looked like merch from that shop. My task was to come up with some ideas incorporating tacos and Fat Cat (a character from the game), as well as create the lettering for the shop name in both English and Eorzean, a fictional language used in the game.

I submitted a few different ideas, and they decided to move forward with two of them — one for the front and one for the back. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of drawing Fat Cat (how could one NOT enjoy drawing tacos and cats?), and it was a super fun challenge to study the Eorzean alphabet and figure out how to stylize the font.

What a fun project! The team at Square Enix was a joy to work with, and their thoughtful feedback and direction really brought the design together. I’m so happy with how everything turned out🙌

The physical t-shirt along with some other merch will be available at the upcoming Fan Festival (April 24-25, 2026 in Anaheim, California).
