10 Years of Calendars
When I made my very first calendar back in 2016, I had no idea it would become such a long-running tradition. Honestly, I don’t think I could have kept going if it weren’t for the kind words and encouragement from those of you who tell me you look forward to these each year. Your support has meant so much, and it’s given me the motivation to keep creating. Thank you, truly, for cheering on this little annual project of mine. I can’t believe we made it to calendar number 10!
A look at all the past calendars! Do you recognize any of them? ^-^
For this tenth edition, I found myself returning to an idea I explored in my very first calendar: telling a story through twelve images. Into The Wild follows a character who steps beyond the familiar to explore her world and reconnect with her untamed self. I wanted these pieces to capture feelings of curiosity, pure joy, adventure, and the simple pleasure of being in nature. I went a little wild with the colors and brushstrokes too. These pieces were so much fun to make!
Each calendar has been a bit of an experiment where I’ve tried different themes, different materials, and different approaches. For this one, I started with a single word that kept calling out to me: wild. I’m not sure exactly why it stuck with me, but it felt important. The idea of letting loose, of playing more — in art and in life — was something I really wanted to lean into. I sketched the ideas for each piece until I was satisfied with the look and feel, then painted the final images digitally.

Looking back, I’ve realized how much this yearly ritual has shaped my creative practice. Having an annual project has helped me improve my craft and build trust in myself, little by little. It’s shown me that I can come up with good ideas, commit to the process even when things feel uncertain, and meet a deadline💪
And when the self-doubt creeps in, or I start to believe I’ll never make another painting I’m proud of, I can point to the stack of calendars and say: You made those. You’ve done this before. Just begin, and trust that you’ll find your way again.
Even more than that, sharing this art and seeing how it’s connected me with so many lovely people and unexpected opportunities has been so fulfilling. It reminds me that there is meaning in making things, and in sharing them. That creativity can be a way to reach others, to feel less alone, and to invite a little more beauty into the world.
I hope these images bring a little lightness to your days. Here’s to a year of embracing our wildness, showing up fully, and meeting life with a sense of wonder and play. And from the bottom of my heart, thank you for being here💚
