Sketchbook Experiments

For the past few years I’ve leaned into digital painting, but something has shifted. I feel pulled toward the tactile and the slower-paced, toward what I can’t fully control. That pull has led me back to watercolor, and a desire to understand it more deeply.

I feel like I’m rediscovering its magic: the way water and pigment move together in unexpected ways, how transparent colors bloom, overlap, and create something I couldn’t have planned. I want to experiment, to discover new favorite color combinations, to feel playful and at ease with a brush in my hand rather than afraid of making a mark I can’t undo.

This curiosity has led me to wonder how my creativity might respond to working exclusively with analog tools. Will it change how I approach making, or the experience of it? Will narrowing my focus to watercolor feel restrictive, or will it feel freeing—a relief from endless choices?

To find out, I’ve been spending more time with my sketchbook, as you’ll see below. For now, I’m letting curiosity take the lead and seeing what emerges—no pressure, no expectations, just showing up eager to learn.

This feels like a seed being planted, and I’m excited to see how things unfold in the coming months🌱
